Our Catholic Community

Antonio Catholic School is a vital part of the Morphett Vale Catholic Parish, working in close partnership with Fr Christopher Matala and the Parish team. Together, we offer a welcoming and compassionate environment that nurtures the faith journey of each child and their family.

Our commitment to Catholic identity is evident in how we invite, welcome, celebrate, listen, and act with love, respect, and hope - both within our school and out in the wider community.

We support families engaging with the Parish-led Sacramental Program, which prepares children for Baptism, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Eucharist. At school, students explore faith and its many dimensions through the Religious Education Framework - Crossways, daily prayer, Liturgies, Masses, and community celebrations of faith.

Faith in action is a cornerstone of our mission. Our senior students are invited to join our vibrant Mini Vinnies social justice team, where they engage in meaningful community outreach and support. This includes initiatives such as:

  • Hot Milo Days
  • Pyjama Days
  • Supporting the Vinnies Winter Appeal
  • Participating in the Winter Sleepout to raise funds and awareness
  • Creating care packages
  • Food donations for our local St Vincent de Paul Centre

Through these experiences, students live out Gospel values and grow as compassionate, thoughtful leaders who make a real difference.

Ecological Sustainability - Caring for Our Common Home

As part of our commitment to living out our Catholic faith, Antonio Catholic School embraces ecological sustainability inspired by Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home. We believe that caring for the Earth is a sacred responsibility and that our children must be empowered to become responsible stewards of creation, now and into the future.

Our productive garden is a vibrant and valued part of school life, supported by a generous team of volunteers. Students are actively involved through gardening clubs and classroom learning experiences, where they develop a deeper connection to the land, learn how to grow food sustainably, and care for living things.

Sustainability initiatives include our worm farm, which supports composting and waste reduction, and our much-loved chickens, who are nurtured daily by staff and students alike. These real-life, hands-on opportunities encourage a deep appreciation of creation, responsibility, and the joy of working with nature.

Through these experiences, we help children understand that small actions, when rooted in love and care, can make a big difference in creating a more just and sustainable world.
